Tasting Notes
Nose, Palate, Finish
How this dram unfolds in the glass
Nose
Lapsang souchong, seaweed drying on a fence, sweet vanilla underneath the smoke.
Palate
Thick and oily. Peat smoke wrapped around dried fig, dark chocolate and a saline edge.
Finish
Enormous. Tarry rope and sherry sweetness trading blows for a full minute.
The Verdict
Would we buy it again at £95? In a heartbeat. This is the bottle you measure other bottles against.
The benchmark Islay dram. Alan calls it 'a leather armchair by a beach bonfire' — and for once, Steve doesn't argue.
