These terms are a contract between you and Dram Good. By reading the site, subscribing to the newsletter, or joining as a member you're agreeing to them. If you don't, that's fine — please close the tab and no offence taken.
1. Age & jurisdiction
You must be at least 18 years old (or the legal drinking age in your country, whichever is higher) to use member features. The site is operated from and governed by the laws of England & Wales. Courts of England & Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, save that consumers may bring proceedings in the courts of their country of residence.
2. What Dram Good actually is
Dram Good publishes personal opinions on whisky. Nothing on the site is:
- Investment advice — a whisky is a drink, not a pension plan.
- Medical advice — see a doctor, not a whisky critic.
- An offer to sell alcohol — we don't sell whisky, we only write about it.
- Independent verification of a distillery's claims about age, cask, or provenance.
3. Your account
- You must give us accurate information at sign-up and keep it current.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for everything done under your account.
- One account per person. No sharing, no bots, no scraping.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, without refund of any paid subscription.
4. Comments & ratings — the community code
When you post on the site, you agree to keep it civil. Specifically:
- Water is allowed. Ice is a crime. Debate freely, but attack the whisky, never the person.
- No hate speech, harassment, threats, or personal attacks on other members, Steve, Alan, or distillery staff.
- No spam, affiliate links, or "buy from my shop" pitches. Cover-price mentions of where a bottle can be found are fine.
- Don't post anything you don't have the right to post — no copyrighted tasting notes lifted from other reviewers.
- Anyone who says "smooth" without further comment owes the table a round.
We reserve the right to edit or remove any post that breaks the code. Repeat offenders lose posting privileges. Really egregious breaches lose the account.
5. Content you post — the licence
You keep ownership of everything you post. By posting, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to display, reproduce, and lightly edit your post on the site and in newsletters. If you delete your account we anonymise your posts (author replaced with "Deleted dramster") rather than remove them, so existing threads keep making sense.
6. Our content — the licence
Reviews, photography, illustrations, tasting notes, and code on this site are copyright Dram Good unless credited otherwise. You may:
- Quote a short extract (up to ~50 words) with clear attribution and a link back.
- Share links to any page on any social platform, forever, without asking.
You may not, without written permission:
- Republish full reviews or scores on another site or in print.
- Use our content to train a machine-learning model.
- Scrape the site with automated crawlers outside
robots.txt.
7. Subscriptions & payments
Where a paid membership tier is offered, prices are shown in GBP inclusive of any applicable UK VAT. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your dashboard; access continues until the end of the paid period. Under UK Consumer Contracts Regulations you have 14 days from purchase to cancel a new subscription for a full refund, provided you have not consumed member-only digital content during that window.
8. Third-party links
Links to distilleries, retailers, or auction results are provided for context. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for what happens on them. Follow links at your own discretion.
9. Uptime & changes
We aim for the site to be available around the clock, but we make no promise of uninterrupted service. We may update, add to, or remove features at any time. If we retire a paid feature, active subscribers will be refunded pro-rata.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, to the fullest extent permitted by law:
- The site is provided "as is" and without warranty of any kind.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss.
- Our total liability in any 12-month period is capped at what you paid us in that period, or £50 if that's higher.
11. Termination
You can close your account at any time from your dashboard. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms. Clauses that by their nature should survive termination (licences, liability, jurisdiction) do so.
12. Changes to these terms
We'll update the cask date at the top of this page for any change, and email members at least 14 days before any material change takes effect.
13. Contact
For any question about these terms, email hello@dramgood.co.uk.
